The EW Course is a 2-week course and takes place at Sintra Air Base Nº1, Portugal.
a) The aim of the EW Course is to provide selected European helicopter crews and support personnel with an in-depth look at EW theory and how it can be applied operationally. By the end of the course, trainees should have a thorough understanding of Radio Frequency (RF), Infra-Red (IR) and Ultraviolet (UV) spectrum, Electro-Optical (EO), Low-Observable, Laser and Counter-Measure theory, as well as an understanding of how the Electro-Magnetic spectrum plays a part in operations and the manner in which it can be exploited.
b) The course is targeted at all helicopter crews and also to support personnel from the MHTC Participants with an interest or requirement to conduct EW roles such as Intelligence Officers. In addition, it is ideally suited for those attending the Helicopter Tactics Instructor Course (HTIC) or wishing to enhance their EW knowledge.
